Thick-cut, skin-on potato pieces, coated in a savoury seasoning blend and fried until the edges turn crisp. Inside, they stay soft and fluffy, with enough weight to hold onto the spice. KFC UK kept these on the menu for more than 25 years before swapping them out in 2020 for Signature Recipe Fries. Compared with those thinner fries, these wedges were chunkier and more potato-led, with a rougher surface that carried the seasoning differently. Each piece had visible skin on at least one side, and the seasoning blend leaned into herbs and pepper rather than just salt. They were a fan favourite, and their removal sparked a proper backlash online.
