A crispy coated chicken breast fillet topped with cheddar, onions two ways, lettuce and tomato, then finished with a mustard maple sauce and a citrus mayo in a toasted poppy and sesame seed bun. It's credited to McDonald's Canada, and the maple is the giveaway. The mustard maple sauce is where the sweet and savoury split happens. Maple syrup alone would sit flat on fried chicken, so the mustard gives it an edge, and the citrus mayo underneath adds a sharper note against both. Chicken and maple has a long run in North American cooking, from chicken and waffles with syrup to maple glazes on fried chicken. Onions two ways means the cheddar and sauces sit against two different onion textures in the same bite, and the lettuce and tomato keep it closer to a dressed chicken sandwich than a sauce-led one. It ran in the UK as part of the 2026 World Menu Heist.
The World Menu Heist brings a German rösti burger, Canadian maple chicken, Dutch paprika fries and a sauce made famous by a cartoon. Every item, and when each one goes.
