What is it?

Three thick, fluffy pancakes come with a small pot of maple-flavoured syrup. Served warm, they're soft and sponge-like, so the syrup seeps in rather than running off. Texture sits somewhere between a crumpet and a dense American hotcake, with no crisp edges or caramelised surface to speak of. It's one of McDonald's simplest breakfast items in the UK, alongside its breakfast wraps and muffins. There are no eggs, meat, or savoury extras here, just a straightforward stack and syrup. You can add butter if you ask, but the default serving is plain pancakes and that small syrup pot, nothing more.
