Green and black olives come marinated in PERi-PERi spices, so the briny fruit carries a chilli heat through the marinade. Served as a small bowl, they're a quick, savoury starter rather than a main event. Compared with other Nando's starters, it's one of the lighter options on the menu and doesn't need any cooking. You just lift them out and eat, with the marinade doing most of the work on the surface of each olive. Oil pools at the bottom of the bowl and is worth mopping up with garlic bread if you've ordered it. Heat level sits at a gentle warmth rather than anything fierce, and the mix of green and black varieties gives you two different textures and flavour profiles in one serving.
