Built on a slightly larger bun than the standard Wimpy hamburger, this burger used the same pure beef patty mix in a double-filling format. That put it between the regular Wimpy and the Halfpounder, with more meat in the centre and a thicker stack overall. In the 1970s, it sat at the pricier end of the menu, at 31p versus 16p for the standard burger. Later on, Wimpy shifted its range around Quarterpounders, and this name disappeared. In broad terms, it was the middle-size option in the brand’s burger lineup, a step up from the basic hamburger without going all the way to the larger formats.
