Cod Fillets

What is it?

Frozen fillets of cod, usually sold skinless and boneless, come in a plain centre-cut format for cooking from frozen or after thawing. Expect firm white flesh that flakes into larger pieces when baked, grilled, pan-fried, or poached. In the frozen fish range, they sit alongside battered and breaded options, but these are just the fish itself, with no coating or added seasoning. They're typically packed as individual fillets, so you can cook one or as many as you need for a meal. Cod has a clean, mild flavour and a meaty flake that holds up well in fish pies, curries, or a classic fish supper with chips. Pan-frying in butter with a squeeze of lemon is one of the simplest ways to let the fish speak for itself.
