Cooked King Prawns

What is it?

Frozen, peeled and deveined, these cooked prawns are ready to eat after defrosting. They're usually sold in a bag and used cold in salads, stirred through pasta, or warmed briefly in a pan or sauce. Compared with shell-on prawns, these skip the peeling step, so you get straight to the texture, which is firm and springy when properly thawed. Frozen seafood range also includes smaller prawns and other mixed fish items, but this pack sticks to a single ingredient, with no batter, sauce, or seasoning added. Because they're already cooked, reheating should be brief to avoid a rubbery texture. They work well tossed into a stir-fry at the last moment or folded into a cocktail with Marie Rose sauce.
