Frozen and peeled, these raw prawns come ready to cook, usually in a bag from the freezer aisle. They're sold uncooked, so you'll need to thaw them first or cook from frozen if the packet says it's safe. In the pan, they turn from grey and translucent to pink and opaque in a couple of minutes. Compared with breaded or marinated seafood in the frozen range, these are the plain version, with no seasoning, sauce, or coating getting in the way. Their size makes them versatile enough for stir-fries, curries, pasta dishes, or simply pan-frying with garlic and butter. Because they're uncooked, they absorb marinades and sauces better than pre-cooked alternatives, giving you more control over the final flavour.
