Potato Waffle Fries

What is it?

Waffle-cut potato fries made from grated potato, formed into a grid with plenty of ridges and open spaces. They're sold frozen and cooked from frozen, usually in the oven, air fryer, or deep fryer, until the centre is hot and the edges are crisp. Compared with straight-cut fries in the same range, these have more surface area, so the texture shifts between the lacy outer edges and the softer middle. That extra surface also means they pick up more colour and crunch during cooking, making them crispier overall than a standard chip. Serve them as a side with burgers, use them for dipping into ketchup or mayo, or stack them as a base for loaded fries.
