

Two plaice fillets come coated in breadcrumb and frozen, ready to cook from chilled or from frozen depending on the pack instructions. Plaice is a flat fish with a mild flavour and soft flakes, so the breaded shell does most of the structural work here. In Waitrose’s frozen fish range, it sits alongside other coated fillets and fish portions, but the shape and thin profile are specific to plaice. Bake or fry them as directed, then serve once the coating is hot and crisp and the fish is opaque through the centre.
