Salmon & Pollock Fish Cakes

What is it?

Made with salmon and Alaskan pollock, these frozen fish cakes come as formed patties that are usually cooked from frozen in the oven or under the grill. Expect a crumbed exterior with a soft fish filling inside, often bound with potato and seasoning. Young's Seafood uses salmon in some products for colour and a fuller fish flavour, while pollock shows up across its range as a milder base. Compared with plain white fish cakes, these lean a little more into the salmon side, but they still sit in the familiar fish-and-potato category.
