The shape is the product. Caramel extruded into a lattice and coated means there's very little bar for the amount of surface, so a Curly Wurly takes far longer to eat than its weight suggests and pulls rather than snaps. It also makes for an unusual ratio. Most chocolate bars are mostly filling with a coating; this one is nearly all coating by surface area, with just enough caramel to hold the shape together. At 21.5g it's one of the lightest bars Cadbury sells, which is a fact that has done the brand no favours in the recurring national conversation about how much smaller everything has got.
