Freddo is Australian by birth. MacRobertson's made the first ones in Melbourne in 1930, and the frog shape came from a suggestion that a mouse would frighten people, which is a better origin story than most confectionery has. In Britain it's become a reference point for something else entirely, since a small familiar bar gets used as a yardstick for how much smaller everything has got. That has very little to do with the chocolate, which is plain Dairy Milk in a mould. The shape does affect the eating. A moulded figure has thicker and thinner sections, so it doesn't break evenly and the thin parts go first.
