Roses is named after machinery. Rose Brothers of Gainsborough built the wrapping equipment that made individually twist-wrapped chocolates possible at scale, and Cadbury named the 1938 assortment after them. The wrapping is genuinely the product's defining feature. Individually wrapped centres can be tipped into a bowl and taken by hand, which is why this format belongs to Christmas and a boxed assortment in paper cases doesn't. It also means the flavours are identifiable by colour before anything is opened, and the resulting business of which ones get left until last is most of what people actually remember about the tin. 700g.
