Shredded potato patties made from grated potato, formed into small oval cakes and sold frozen. They cook from frozen in the oven, air fryer, or pan until the outside turns crisp and the centre stays soft and potatoey. McCain uses a lacy, shredded texture rather than a smooth mash inside, so you get visible strands of potato once you bite through the golden crust. Compared with other McCain potato sides, these are simpler and more breakfast-shaped, with a rough surface rather than the smooth finish of fries or wedges. Serve them alongside eggs, bacon and beans for a full English, or eat them on their own with a bit of ketchup.
