OREO's frozen range mostly rebuilds the biscuit in a new format. Mini Bites goes the other way and shrinks it, into 14 individual pieces rather than one bar or cone. Each bite is smooth vanilla ice cream with a crushed OREO biscuit coating around the outside. At this size the coating is proportionally most of what gets tasted, which is why the crumb sits on the exterior rather than folded through, and why the ice cream inside stays plain. The biscuits are listed as a compound ingredient, wheat flour and cocoa solids with the creme filling separate, so the crumb is real OREO rather than a cocoa coating standing in for it. Small frozen snacks live or die on whether the coating survives the freezer, and a dry biscuit crumb holds up better than a chocolate shell across that much surface area.
