Blue Ribbon Strawberry

What is it?

The third flavour in the vanilla, chocolate and strawberry set that has anchored family tubs for a century, and the one most often left behind at the end. Strawberry is difficult in ice cream. The fruit is mild and watery, so a base carrying real fruit tends to turn icy, while a base carrying only flavouring tastes like coloured cream. This leans fruity and slightly tangy rather than purely sweet, which is what keeps it clear of the second problem. It softens at the edges more quickly than the chocolate or vanilla sitting beside it in the Blue Ribbon range.
