What is it?

Fried Pickle Frickles are pickle slices coated in a golden fried crumb and served with a cup of pickle sauce, which puts pickle on both sides of the dip. Frickle is the shortening of fried pickle, which is a fixture in American diners and southern bars but has never had a mainstream run in Australia. The contrast is the appeal: hot crumb around a cold, sour slice, so the vinegar arrives after the crunch rather than before it. The coating stays crisp for as long as the slices aren't stacked on each other, and the pieces are small enough to eat without a fork. They sit in KFC's Picklecore range next to the Pickle Burger, Pickle Loaded Chips and Pickle Pepsi, running from 1 September to 28 September 2026. A UK version came first, earlier in 2026, which is where the name travelled from. On a menu already built on fried coatings, this is the item where the coating goes around something that isn't chicken.
