The chocolate version of the cookie sandwich, with cocoa in the biscuit as well as the chips, which is what double chocolate means on a pack. Filling it with chocolate ice cream as well is the decision that sets it apart from the plain cookie sandwich in the same range, where a vanilla centre sits between two pale biscuits. Here every component carries cocoa. The chocolate chips are what stop that collapsing into one flat note. They stay firm in the cold where the biscuit softens and the ice cream yields, so they supply the only real texture in a sandwich that is otherwise uniformly soft.
