A strawberry sauce centre with crisp meringue pieces over the top, which is the Summer Edition twist on a standard fruit cone. Meringue is the interesting addition. Whipped egg white and sugar baked dry stays crisp only until it meets moisture, so putting it on the crown rather than through the ice cream is the only way it survives in a freezer. Fruit ice cream in a wafer carries a moisture problem of its own, since a strawberry base holds more water than a vanilla one and water is what softens a cone from the inside. Pairing the two cuts the water down without losing the strawberry.
