Vanilla Bean

What is it?

The difference from the plain vanilla is visible before it's tasted. Scraped seeds go into the mix, so the tub is flecked black instead of uniformly cream. Those specks contribute less flavor than people assume. Most of what vanilla tastes of sits in the pod wall and comes out through extraction, and the seeds are largely there as evidence that a real bean was involved. In a category where most vanilla flavor comes from industrially synthesized vanillin, evidence is worth something. The base is sweetened cream carrying Madagascar vanilla, which is the same origin the plain vanilla names. What's different is that this one shows its working.
