In October 2015, Burger King sold a seasonal Whopper on a black sesame seed bun tinted with A.1. Thick & Hearty Steak Sauce baked into the dough. Inside, it was the usual flame-grilled beef patty with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions, wrapped in a Halloween-themed package. Compared with a standard Whopper, the main change was the bun, which looked nearly black and carried a faint savory note from the steak sauce. It returned in some markets that season, then disappeared from the U.S. lineup. Burger King later used the Halloween slot for the Ghost Pepper Whopper.
