Cosmic Jacks are Jack in the Box sandwiches with the bread sealed shut around the filling, pressed into a circular saucer shape and stamped with a Jack Box imprint. The equipment behind them was built to make ice cream sandwiches, and the chain adapted it to find out whether savory fillings would survive the same treatment. Three versions launched together. The Bacon Ultimate Cosmic Jack and the Philly Chili Crunch Cosmic Jack cover lunch, while the Loaded Breakfast Cosmic Jack holds a sausage patty, egg, American cheese, bacon mayo and a hash brown. Sealing the edges changes how the sandwich eats. Nothing slides out the back, and the filling steams inside the pressed bread rather than sitting between two open halves, which is closer to a hand pie than to a burger. The test ran from August 19 to September 2, 2026 at a single restaurant on Centinela Avenue in Inglewood, California. Jack in the Box hasn't said whether the format goes any wider.
