What is it?

Built from two thin beef patties, one slice of American cheese, diced onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard on a plain bun, this is McDonald's value-menu take on a double stack. The patties are cooked on a flat-top grill, then stacked with the condiments and cheese in the usual assembly-line order. Compared with the chain's Double Cheeseburger, it's the version with one less slice of cheese. Formulation has shifted over time, but it's generally used as a lower-priced two-patty option and a common base for custom orders.
