On McDonald's menu since 1973, this burger centers on a quarter-pound beef patty, 4 ounces before cooking, grilled fresh and never frozen. It comes on a sesame seed bun with two slices of American cheese, slivered onions, dill pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Compared with the chain's smaller burgers, it uses a thicker patty and a sturdier bun, while sitting below the Double Quarter Pounder in size. Since 2018, McDonald's has cooked the beef to order on the flat-top grill, so the patty shrinks a bit less and keeps more moisture than the frozen patties used in many other burgers.
