Popeyes has sold lemonade for years, so the pineapple version is a flavor swap rather than a new drink. Pineapple is a sensible thing to swap in: it's sweet enough to take the edge off the citrus without burying it, and it holds its shape against the salt and cayenne of the food it's meant to sit beside. It pours cloudy yellow over ice, tart at the front and rounder through the middle than the plain lemonade. Pineapple brings acidity of its own, so this isn't simply a sweeter cup, it's a differently sour one, with the fruit doing some of the work the lemon was doing on its own. It went on sale on 31 August 2026 with a Frozen Pineapple Lemonade and a Pineapple Iced Tea. The three of them are the whole pineapple lineup, timed to the end of summer.
Seven US chains launched between 28 August and 1 September. Only two changed anything permanently, and the biggest of those happened because thousands of customers said the old version was rubbery.
