Thick-cut and battered, these ring-shaped sides come fried with a crisp shell that stays light instead of heavy or bready. Inside, the onion cooks through but keeps its round shape, so you get a sweet, soft center under the crunch. ShackSauce comes on the side for dipping. Compared with Shake Shack's crinkle-cut fries, these are the other standard side on the menu, and you can usually swap them into a combo or order them separately. Unlike the fries, they don't come with cheese sauce options. Batter is seasoned but not overly spiced, keeping the onion flavor front and center.
