WhataWings are built out of Whatachick'n Bites, which means they're boneless from the start: breaded pieces of chicken breast tossed in sauce after frying rather than jointed wings. The Nashville Hot version runs on cayenne and paprika, so the heat sits dry and smoky underneath instead of arriving as a vinegar hit across the top. Nashville hot chicken is traditionally made by stirring cayenne and brown sugar into the frying fat and painting that back onto the bird, which is where both the sweetness and the deep red color come from. A sauce tossed on afterward can't do that exactly, but it reaches for the same three-way balance of smoke, heat and sugar with less of the grease. WhataWings is a standing line with a rotating flavor rather than a fixed one. Nashville Hot joined it in 2024, sold as a nine-piece or as part of a Whatameal. Which flavors are on the board varies by market.
