Eight frozen griddle cakes come in each Trader Joe’s box, made in the Netherlands and fully cooked before freezing. They’re thicker than a standard pancake, with a springy, slightly chewy crumb that sits somewhere between a pancake and a crumpet. Heat them in the toaster, oven, or microwave, then top them however you like. Compared with the rest of Trader Joe’s breakfast lineup, these lean more toward a sturdy, breadlike texture than a soft flapjack. The thicker profile helps them hold moisture inside while the outside can pick up a little color during reheating.
