Tangy ranch seasoning coats classic corn tortilla chips here, with dried buttermilk and sour cream doing the creamy work underneath garlic, onion, and dried herbs. It first joined the Doritos lineup in 1986 as the brand’s second permanent flavor, and it’s still the main counterpoint to Nacho Cheese. Compared with the orange cheese dust on other Doritos, this seasoning runs lighter and more powdery, with a pale white-green cast. The flavor starts sharp, then shifts into a cooler, milder finish. It shows up in the usual bag sizes and has also been used as a base flavor in some Doritos spin-offs, including the Flamin' Hot and 3D Crunch lines.
