The split is a format rather than a flavour, two ice creams moulded side by side on one stick instead of blended into a swirl. Raspberry against vanilla is the version that has been around longest. Keeping them separate is the point. A raspberry ripple through vanilla gives an average of the two in most bites, where a split gives one, the other, or both depending on which side of the seam the bite lands. The tart half and the milky half stay distinct the whole way down. It's a moulded bar built from two separate mixes rather than one, which is more work than a single-flavour stick and part of why relatively few brands still make them.
