The custard pieces bring a flaky, biscuit-like crunch, while the caramel adds sweetness and a bit of gloss. Those little sprinkles are there for colour and a light crackle. Released in Australia as part of McDonald's 50th anniversary line-up in 2021, alongside the Tim Tam McFlurry, it riffs on fairy bread, that birthday party staple of white bread, butter, and hundreds and thousands. Compared with the brand's usual cookie or chocolate mix-ins, this one leans more pastry and cake shop than pantry snack.
