Espresso gets a small dollop of milk foam in this short coffee, so it stays close to straight espresso with just a little softening at the top. In McDonald’s Australian coffee range, it sits nearer to a long black than a flat white, but with less volume and no steamed milk poured through the cup. The drink’s name comes from the idea of being “stained”, which fits the look: dark coffee underneath, pale foam on top. It’s served as a small hot beverage, meant to be drunk soon after it’s made.
