Arnott's floated Tim Tam Jatz as an April Fool's joke in 2023, then made it real the following year as a Coles exclusive. This is the same idea handed to McDonald's. Vanilla soft serve takes a crumb made from both biscuits plus a Tim Tam inspired sauce, so the chocolate malt of one lands against the salt and butter of the other. Jatz is the part doing the work. It's a savoury cracker rather than a sweet biscuit, and crushed through soft serve it behaves the way salt does in salted caramel: it doesn't taste savoury in the cup, it makes the chocolate read stronger. McDonald's lists the flavour profile as sweet and salty, which is unusually direct labelling for a McFlurry. It's a separate item from the plain Tim Tam McFlurry that's been on the Australian menu since 2021. This version was trialled in a handful of New South Wales restaurants in June 2026 and went nationwide on 2 September.
