Warm pita pockets filled a short-lived Wendy’s lineup from 1997 to 2000. Four versions were sold: Garden Ranch Chicken with grilled chicken and ranch dressing, Chicken Caesar with romaine and parmesan, Classic Greek with feta and Greek-style toppings, and Garden Veggie. Compared with the brand’s burgers and sandwiches, these were built more like handheld salads, with soft pita bread and cold, layered fillings. Preparation was simple for the customer but not for the kitchen. The fillings had to be assembled to order, and the ingredients didn’t hold well if sales were slow. That helped keep the run brief, even as fans kept asking for them back.
